English: The emerald dove, alternatively referred to as the common emerald dove, Asian emerald dove, or grey-capped emerald dove, is a prevalent resident breeding species belonging to the pigeon family. It is indigenous to the tropical and subtropical regions of the Indian Subcontinent and Southeast Asia. Additionally recognized as the green dove or green-winged pigeon, this avian species boasts vibrant features, including bright green wings, a coral-red bill, and an ash-gray forehead. Notably, the male emerald dove showcases an extensive silver cap, a characteristic absent in its female counterpart. Its habitat spans various forested regions, ranging from lowlands to montane areas. Typically encountered along shaded trails, this species emits a distinct series of solemn coos, resembling "ti-woo, ti-woo, ti-woo." A recent sighting of this bird occurred at the Buxa Tiger Reserve & National Park in West Bengal, India.
