This artwork is not a public domain historical painting created by an unknown artist over 100 years ago. It was created in 2009 by contemporary artist Aloptogin Tushar (https://aloptogin.com/) and is currently housed at the Chittagong University Museum (featured on page 8 of the museum handbook). The artist's signature and the date are visible on the boat in the bottom-left corner of the painting. There is no evidence of a free license release; both the artist's website and the museum handbook explicitly state "All rights reserved."
I contacted the artist directly via email and WhatsApp. He confirmed that this is his original work and stated that he has never granted public release permissions anywhere. When asked if he would be willing to release it under a Creative Commons license, he replied that he "will think about it." Until a valid VRT/OTRS permission is officially recorded, this image is a copyright violation and should be deleted.
Note that this image was originally uploaded by User:Arr4, the main operator/organiser of a massive sockpuppet farm with over 381 accounts, the latest active as of March 2026 (see en:Wikipedia:Long-term abuse/Orangemoody and en:Operation Orangemoody). While the uploader may have mistakenly assumed this was a historical piece, the original artist has gone unattributed for over 13 years while this image spread across the internet without any mention of his name.
