English: POOLA UDAIYAR INSCRIPTION

On the south side of Poolaudaiyar hill at Marukalthalai village, stone beds are carved for the stay of Jain monks. These beds are so conveniently designed to rest the whole body of the monks. On the face of the rock drip ledge is carved to drain the rain water out of the bed. Above this drip ledge one Tamil Brahmi inscription is engraved which reads as: VENKATASAN KOUDPIDHA KAL KANCHANAM

On an unfinished bed found on the eastern side, an inscription is engraved which reads that “Swamy Azhagiya Ama” and it may be dated to 8th Century AD.
