Darbar (pronounced darbÄr) is a ragam in Carnatic music and has been adapted from Hindustani music.[2] The raga is a comparatively recent entry to Carnatic Music, possibly in the earlier part of the 18th century.[3][4][5]
Structure and lakshana[edit | edit source]
It is a Vakra ragam derived from the 22nd Melakarta rÄgam Kharaharapriya. Nishadham and ghandharam used as long in the Avarohana. Its Ärohaį¹a-avarohaį¹a structure is as follows (see swaras in Carnatic music for details on below notation and terms):

- avarohaį¹a: į¹ Nā Dā P Mā Rā Gā Gā Rā S[lower-alpha 2][1]
The notes used are shadjam, chathusruthi rishabham, sadharana gandharam, shuddha madhyamam, panchamam, chathusruthi dhaivatham, kaisiki nishadham.
